Kate Middleton And The Shola Dress

Today it would be fair to say that Kate Middleton is the public figure who depicts the essence of style. Since her engagement and marriage to Prince William every photographer wants to capture an image of her latest look, which inevitably sends her female followers onto a shopping quest to buy her latest look.

The most recent significant event for the royal couple was meeting the Obamas at Buckingham Palace on a visit to London. Kate chose to wear a piece named ‘Shola’ by the high street retailer Reiss; a camel sheath, bandage style dress priced in store at £175. After being pictured and filmed in this beautiful piece, the dress sold out almost immediately in stores and crashed the Reiss online store for two days. Not surprisingly some ebay sellers have priced the Reiss garment at an extravagant £600 making profits of £425 per dress due to it being unavailable in stores at the moment. Reiss have stated the dress will be back in stores in approximately six weeks.

Fashion retailers should be prepared for sell-outs as whatever Kate decides to wear, the nation also desires to wear. A similar effect occurred when she purchased a notable blue Issa dress priced at £399 for the public announcement of the couples engagement. Some would say this is a small price for what is effectively a little piece of Royal heritage. I believe it is simply refreshing and exciting for the young female who can buy and wear a piece from a brand that the young Duchess also wears, without having to buy a copied style from a lower priced retailer because they can’t afford it. It was estimated that this particular ensemble boosted sales by an astounding 45% for London label Issa.

“Whenever any important figure wears fashion it's going to influence people all over the world, and obviously this is her moment, so anything that she chooses is going to be of huge interest," says Anna Wintour, editor-in-chief of American Vogue.

In the future I would love to see Kate also wear some less established designer’s work, she has the ability to make an individuals career by simply wearing a garment for literally two minutes. Her every move in fashion is watched by many eager eyes across the whole world not just the UK, she is currently the ultimate globe trendsetter.

Lily Allen & Sarah Owen launch at Harvey Nichols

I can't describe how much I loved the documentary series "From Riches To Rags" watching sisters Lily Allen and Sarah Owen following their fashion business dream. It provided a inspiring and truthful insight into the time, effort and struggles involved in the setting up of a fashion business. It was just last year when the pair launched 'Lucy In Disguise,' the ultimate vintage shopping experience located in Covent Garden, where one can hire or buy the vintage pieces at a range of prices. But last night the business became even bigger, launching their new fashion line of ready to wear dresses at none other than Harvey Nichols.

Lily and Sarah last night wore some of their own creations from their vintage inspired collection. Lily wore a floor length pale green gown with a shining sequin bolero jacket and Sarah modelled a black beaded jumpsuit. Some famous friends including Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Charlotte Dellal and Jaime Winstone also modelled some beautiful pieces.

The event itself was very much vintage styled to the maximum, seeming every girls dream with carousel horses, seaside inspiration and waiters dressed in sailor suits.

Lily has described fictional character Lucy as “A time-traveling fashionista who’s inviting you to explore her wardrobe… It’s a great opportunity to play with the character."

"This is the place where the vintage loving girl can buy or hire desirable pieces from whichever decade she chooses. Housed under one roof, beaded dresses from the 20’s, evening gowns from the 30’s rub shoulders with 40’s tea dresses and prom dresses from the 50’s. Ossie Clark and Biba from the 60’s and 70’s, sequins and sparkle from the 70’s and 80’s, whether you want to look like Bianca at Studio 54 or Twiggy sashaying down the King’s road in ’67, you’ll find the right look for you at LID."

Save The Sea

Check out Katharine Hamnett's new range at Selfridges. The new range is part of Project Ocean, a connection made between Selfridges and the Zoological Society. By buying one of these products not only are you gaining a new piece for your wardrobe, but you're making a statement and not just in fashion. Spread the word about the issues of the ocean on a canvas bag or a t-shirt and a large amount of your payment for the item goes to Project Ocean, raising money to help solve issues such as over-fishing. Selfridges are not making any profit for selling these products.

If you don't fancy this "Save The Sea" tote there are other products and other slogans available; "Love," "Stop And Think," "Save The World" and "No More Fish In The Sea."

Cannes Goes Gaga

The Tiny Fashion Bubble presents it's first ever blog...

And it's all about Gaga and her latest extreme style. Never short of controversy Gaga was star of the Cannes Film Festival performing her latest single Judas yesterday. She arrived in what could be described as a fairly safe outfit for Lady Gaga...black underwear, black tights, black boots, a pair of shades and a studded leather waistcoat.

Gaga's outfit for her performance consisted of a black and gold lace embellished piece partially see through in places, with gold chains draped from her shoulders.  You have to love the vibrant red cape she has cleverly hung from the back of her black and blonde clashing hair colours.

Best or worst dressed?

You decide...I'm SURE you either hate it or love it!
